January 26-30 is Data Privacy Week 2026, an international effort to build awareness around safeguarding personal and institutional data. This gives us an opportunity to reinforce the critical role every employee plays in protecting the data they encounter and to ensure it is used in compliance with IU policies and to support the university mission. Remember, you play a vital role in ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and accessibility of the data we collect at Indiana University.
To support this effort, the 2026 Data Protection and Privacy Tutorial is now available in Canvas. Faculty and staff who work with institutional data are required to review the material and complete a brief quiz to earn certification. The tutorial provides a clear introduction to privacy expectations and highlights best practices for managing institutional data at IU.
